Audubon Elementary- Gay Ann Day
We meet every Wednesday morning, at 8:15 this year. We have 12 students on the team.  The team is learning basic troubleshooting of computer hardware and how to maintain the computers in the classrooms and in the computer lab. The team is currently making a movie with  interviews from the new staff in our building this year.
Bates Elementary-Steven Durm
Bates has 30 students involved in STLP. The students are divided evenly into 3 different teams. These teams include a Technical Team whose responsibilities include trouble shooting, inventory, and daily maintenance, an Instructional Team whose responsibilities include creating a monthly newsletter, training students and staff on new software, and creating technology lessons for lower primary, and a Multimedia Production Team whose responsibilities include creating PowerPoint presentations for parent programs, 5th grade end -of -the- year video movie, and digital and video camera projects. Students meet weekly to work on projects, while I rotate weekly focusing on individual groups.
Blake Elementary-Jeff Wellman
We film STARS of the week analog video and take digital photos, make word processed fliers, edit i-Movies, clean computers, videotape with digital and analog special school events, morning Telecast: 2 anchors, camera, show and tell person, VCR and CD player operator, computer operator, boot computers, help teachers with technology based projects, assist primary students during computer lab times, help to put up the Technology Terms word walls, videotape with analog camera the pledge, and minor troubleshooting. For a community project, we created a class roster for a U of L professor.
Bloom Elementary-Pat Coots
Students are working in pairs creating an iMovie built around a topic of choice.  The students have chosen subjects, such as: a biography of one of our teachers, erosion, and the effects of pollution on penguins.
Blue Lick Elementary-Michael Miller
The STLP cares for and manages laptops, creates Podcasts, works with younger "Buddies" helping K and 1st grade students one-on-one with tech skills, and cares for desktops throughout the school.
Bowen Elementary-Linda Carden, Cathy Jackson, and Jan Fisher
Intermediate students participate in the morning telecast on a rotating basis. They operate the cameras, video and audio boards, direct, anchor the WBUZZ News. Intermediate students maintain the lab computers by cleaning headphones, keyboards, mice and monitors daily. Students do this on a rotating basis. The AP fifth grade students publish a monthly newspaper called Bowen Today.
Brandeis Elementary-Malissia Bell, Sheere Tock, and Meg Wilson
One of our first projects was to take digital pictures of our Science Fair and design a bulletin board. Students are also responsible for the upkeep of computers in classrooms.

Byck Tech Team creates and maintains our school designed webpage, they are the school photographers and videographers, they help with computer maintenance and inventory, and they provide technology assistance to other students and staff.

Students in STLP are the first to help with troubleshooting in the lab and in classes. PTA purchased memory for the 5500's and G3's. The STLP's major project this semester has been installing that memory. In addition they are working with the digital camera to record events at school, and use the software to refine the images. STLP is one of the groups using the LightSpan technology. They have previewed disks and are troubleshooters when needed.
Cochran Elementary-Patty Wilson
STLP students will meet for 8 weeks after school to work a project about early American villages.  They will use the Community Construction kit software to create a village, research to learn about what villages were like, and create a PowerPoint presentation to showcase what they learned. 
Students who meet before school troubleshoot and clean computers.  Students also create cards to sell, take pictures of school activities and help teachers with printing pictures.
Cochrane Elementary-Amanda Slusher
Cochrane is so proud of their STLP for winning JCPS’s Podcasting School of the Year Award and presenting their project at the State Competition. Cochrane’s STLP continues to work on podcasts as well as helping with trouble shooting, inventory, cleaning and maintenance of the school computers.

Field Elementary-Robert Greenwood
This year Field's STLP, is using the Alice environment to teach programing. Alice was developed at Carnegie-Mellon University specifically for teaching students to program and is free at www.alice.org. Third graders are doing the beginning Alice course during the daytime, while two community volunteers come in the evenings to teach more advanced Alice to fifth graders and some recent Field alumni. The goals are for the kids to eventually use Alice to create some simple educational games that can be used in the lab and to teach their peers how to use Alice. Programing in Alice is a part of the curriculum at Field because it teaches important thinking skills and because it is an important part of our technological world.

Help with basic trouble shooting of computers and printers. Dust and scrub grime off of computer equipment. Organize computer software resources. Help with taking pictures and updating the school website. Used a digital camera and filmed a welcome clip of our principal and then helped turn it into an iMovie.

We are working on getting the kids involved in the cooking part. Students use Flip cams, edit, write about the guest and recently began to work on school wide involvement by appropriate comments for a website etc.
Hartstern Elementary-Laura Coomer
Run the morning news telecast every morning, multimedia productions for school activities, and are working on defining a future service project.
Hawthorne Elementary-Jessica Kays
Hawthorne’s STLP program is broken into two groups. We have a technical crew and an instructional crew. The technical crew is made up of two students from each classroom. These students conduct basic troubleshooting in the lab and in their classroom. They clean the computers and report major concerns to the STC. The instrucitonal crew designs and implements technology lessons that are core content specific. The STLP's meet before and after school two days per week.
Hazelwood Elementary-Kerri Massey
STLP students are becoming familiar with JCPS Online to improve communications and assist with troubleshooting for teachers and students. STLP will eventually resume WHAWKS, a school news system, where students write, film and edit broadcasts on their own. Currently 2005-2006 STLP students are still in training, learning the basics of their responsibilities to themselves and the school. This year at the Showcase, they will display examples of tasks STLP performs around Hazelwood.
Hite Elementary-Jan Metcalfe
The STLP at Hite Elementary designed holiday cards and addressed the envelopes to over 100 people. The list of people that would appreciate cards were generated from e-mail. An e-mail was sent to the Hite staff and parents requesting the names and address of those folks that needed cheering up as the holidays approached for whatever reason. Some were elderly, soldiers, hospitalized, veterans, and children that were sick. There were special stories attached to the e-mails and they could personalize the cards. The STLP also works with: Troubleshooting machines and reporting to the STC, Videotaping School Events, Morning News Broadcast, Holiday Card Creation, Yearly Calendar, Staff phone Directory, Video YearBook, Cleaning Computers, CSILE Support, Creating labels for Book Donation Program, Bi-Yearly Student Newspaper.

The STLP at J-town is responsible for producing the daily morning broadcast. Students are seen in front of, as well as, behind the cameras. STLP students also perform monthly cleaning of the computers throughout the building. This year, STLP students will be helping to update our school's website. We are in the process of building a "jr. stlp" for grades K-3.

Our STLP use hyperstudio to broadcast a live afternoon announcement show. They are learning how use the digital camera and software to create a 5th grade year end DVD. Basic trouble shooting for teachers. After school 15 students participate in a multimedia club, where they learn how to use a digital camera, a video camera, a scanner, and learn how to download to the computer there media to the computer and create projects, movies and dvd's. (projects have included creating an orientation to "Kerrick Elementary" DVD for new students and parents).

Our big project is doing the school year book.  Students will take photos and upload to our yearbook template.  Students are also assisting me with updates (java, flash, shockwave).

Our STLP has evolved over the years. Our Podcast is an ongoing work in process to improve and get better. Last year we did digital storytelling using Photostory 3. We work on Scratch, Comic Life, and our favorite Clay Animation. We also enjoy taking pictures and using the video camera to document school events. We purchased a Lego Robotics kit and look forward to using it soon. The STLP at Layne is a very popular and active club. We have so many students who want to join that I am trying to incorporate some of what the STLP learns into my lesson plans for classroom instruction. All students in 3rd- 5th grade learn Scratch, Comic Life and Digital Storytelling during the school year.

Luhr Elementary-Jill Byrd
STLP Buddies---Older students with younger students. Student partners counted candy hearts and made spreadsheets and graphs of the results on AppleWorks for a math lesson. The students are also created slide shows to show to the Kdg. & First Graders using alphabet and numbers with pics. from the library. STLP students also clean computers. They also help with trouble-shooting (check cords, etc.) and deliver work orders to be taped to down machines.
Maupin Elementary-Pauline Davis-Watkins
STLP students are working in Apple Works/ Drawing. The are creating letter matching cards with directions for the K-1 students. They will next create cards for matching numbers with number words. Skills involved are click/hold down mouse key and drag. Other activities include, cleaning keyboards, assist STLP Coordinator in updating webpage for school projects and taking pictures using the digital camera.

Middletown STLP's are editing the weekly WDOG magazine-format news program using Adobe Premiere and also helping with the yearbook layout on computer among other things. They type in student names under team pictures and insert photos with an on-line program from the school photo company.

Students participate in basic troubleshooting techniques and solutions. Students use a digital camera and then handle weekly pictures of Reading Stars and take pictures of teams and activities for the school newspaper. Appleworks is used to create a school newspaper each month.

Price Elementary-Ryan Kuschmeader
Price Elementary's STLP group of about 20 students is actually 3 different groups of students. They consist of 2nd through 5th graders that meet at different times during the week. One group meets every morning before announcements, usually between 8:30 and 9. This group works on several things including: setting up the lab, turning computers on throughout the building, simple troubleshooting, rebuilding desktops, cleaning, working on projects and delivering parts. Another group meets every afternoon between 3:20 until dismissal. Their duties include basic troubleshooting, cleaning, maintaining equipment and delivering parts. The whole group tries to meet every Thursday afternoon between 3-3:40 to design projects, learn new equipment, learn maintenance, etc. The goal at Price is to have at least one student from every second through fifth classroom in STLP. Some of the projects that STLP students are working on include iMovie's representing the Price Way, Hyperstudio Stacks reviewing content material, teaching new students the technology procedures, maintaining all equipment, assisting teachers with equipment and technology resources, graduation program and other projects to assist teachers.

Students do a morning news production in Spanish and English. They assist classroom teachers and special area teachers in video projects and productions. STLP kids assist both the librarian and computer lab teacher in modeling instruction for AR testing and in the use various computer programs.

Semple students prepare the lab to ensure that every workstation has what is necessary for children to be successful each day. Students assist teachers with technology and troubleshooting. Leaders model lessons for students and participate in afterschool technology training. Leaders work after school to create welcome cards for families staying with the Ronald McDonald House.

This year, students have helped to update Virus Protection, Java, Shockwave, and Adobe Reader.  Additionally, they have helped to install Timez Attack and Type to Learn 4. The next big project will be to have them help install a new print driver on every computer in our building.

Stopher Elementary-Denette Brown
Students created a Power Point to archive the first year of Stopher Elementary. They worked all year to create a Stopher scrapbook of events and important happenings of the first year. Students participated in the STLP Showcase at The University of Louisville. Their presentation scored high enough to be invited to participate in the STLP May Competition in Lexington, Kentucky. Two of our Stopher Gazette Journalists were Cyber Reporters at both showcases. One of our 5th grade students worked diligently to be a podcaster for both STLP events.
Some of our student leaders assisted the teachers during training to use JCPS Online to create our school website. Three of our STLs attended STLP Summer Camp where they learned sophisticated tools within Power Point to advance their own skills and be able to teach others when returning to school. An additional two students learned how to create a Podcast while participating in STLP camp. They created a wonderful podcast about Stopher that will be linked to the main page of our website.
Throughout the school year, students helped maintain the equipment in the building by doing virus updates on classroom computers, Windows Updates on the student laptops, restarting computers when needed, and basic trouble shooting.
Our STLP is a vital part of the technology program at Stopher Elementary!

Trunnell Elementary-Heather Ingram
Trunnell's STLP consists of up to 20 fourth graders and up to 20 fifth graders. During the school year the STLP students take digital pictures of school and class events. These pictures are used for our yearbook, graduation slide show, and other slide shows. In the past we have made our own t-shirts, created power points for teachers to use in their classroom, worked on podcasts, and tested new programs and web sites. STLP has helped with fundraisers both with the basketball team and specifically for technology. Students also clean and update computers in the classrooms throughout the school and in the lab. In addition, every year 2 students from Trunnell attend STLP summer camp to learn new and fun technological things!
Tully Elementary-Molly Adams
Tully’s STLP are in charge of opening and shutting down the lab everyday. They load the shool printer paper daily as well as take care of our two carts of Calcuscribes. They know how to use the digital cameras and are in charge of keeping all of the batteries charged. They also install software and help me update our Accelerated Reader student information. They have learned how to import photos from a digital camera and use these to make a slide show. They created a Welcome to Tully slide show for the first PTA open house, and it was a hit! We had it running in the foyer as parents entered the building. The STLP also helps tutor other students. They also are taught how to troubleshoot problems and will go to classrooms having problems and will instruct teachers and/or students how to fix a variety of problems. This group also helps me in other small ways by keeping the lab equipment clean. They clean all equipment every Friday. They also run errands and help me create spreadsheets.
Watson Lane Elementary- Jeri Taylor
Our STLP students clean and maintain all the school's computers. You can always tell a STLP member by the paintbrush and rag sticking out of their back pocket! Each STLP is assigned two classrooms and their job is to make sure the computers are operational. If not, they report to STC and we check it with our AB Tutor. Each group will be making multiple podcasts and movies this year. We have spent a year getting our broadcast studio back into shape so we can film for the morning broadcasts. Our STLP is in charge of filming the morning broadcasts; commercials for other teachers; as well as our own broadcasts for carbon footprints. We are working to expand our CARE for kids school by making all the classrooms aware of what others are doing through multimedia projects. The STLP also keeps our school's computers up and running.
Watterson Elementary-Clarice Wosoba
The STLP is responsible for the cleaning and updating of the computers.  They also will learn how to troubleshoot and do simple maintenance on the computers.  The STLP will learn to use digital cameras and learn how to create multi- media projects.  We hope to create a monthly newsletter to be distributed around our school.

Our STLP members are in charge of running a virus scan each week on all computers and assuring the computers are on one night a week for updates.  The students assist in troubleshooting for teachers and installing software.  This year STLP students will be making “how to” podcasts for our younger students.  STLP students also run the Morning Broadcast for our school each morning.
Wheeler Elementary-Julie McGinnis
Students open and close computers. They are beginning a “movie class” where they will learn to record. We will have one student per team that will be a video person. They will then learn to download to IMovie and edit.
