Process:

Steps for "Student Designed WebQuest":

1.  Have Students find and look at a WebQuest.  Have them identify the parts and things they like and don't like about different quest.  Example:

2.  Have students select a subject area and topic that they would like to learn more about.  Example: 3.  Students will create a file folder called "resource" and a page called "resource".

4.  Have them search the internet and find pages that match their subject area and topic.

5.  Produce a resource web page that will link to these sites to their WebQuest.  This web page will be called "resource" and placed in a web folder called "resource."     Students must collect at least 10 relative links to the subject area and topic.

7.  Using these links have students write 10 interesting facts about their topic. The students must right a bibliography for each of these facts.   The Bibliography must included the page name, URL, and date and time. These links must be on their Resource Page.

8.  Using these facts, have students compose 10 questions.  These questions should NOT be true-false or matching.  Later these will be made into multiple choice questions.  Have them write to correct answer and also 3 possible incorrect answers.

9.  Using these questions, students must produce a new file folder called "task" with a file called "task."   Page must contain the following things:

10. Students will now take the 10 questions and make them multiple choice questions.

11.  Using these multiple choice questions, now have students create a file folder called "test"  with a file called "test."  Page must contain the following things:

12.  Students now produce 4 pages that says correct and 4 pages that say incorrect.  The names on these should be different and random numbers so students taking the quiz cannot look at the status bar and guess the answer.  Pages should include the following things:

16.  Now have students create a new folder that will hold all of the other folders and file.  Make sure all folders have different names.  Move all folders into this folder

17.  Create a page called "index".  This is the opening page or splash page of the WebQuest.  It also should have the a link to each of the pages they have just created in this order - Introduction, Task, Resource, Evaluation, and Conclusion Page. following things:

Teacher Resources:
I suggest you go out on the web and research webquest before you start.  Some links are listed below in WebQuest Teacher Information Links.

We have taught this project in groups and to individuals.  Groups move faster.

You will have to create a master page to index all of the differetn projects.  When you do this you must be sure each folder has a different name.  Click here to see a sample page.

This Project should be graded in stages.  The criteria for each section is listed under each folder.  I have created a rubric based on how this project was described on this WebQuest. See table below for this rubric.

Conclusion:
WebQuest can take on many forms.  This WebQuest is how we did Student Designed WebQuest.   These instructions can be changed to best fit your school and students' needs.  All folders or files do not have to be used.  We called this project "Your Passion."  We wanted students to learn more about what they were interested in but at the same time teach others.
